Academy of Osseointegration announces call for applications for 2017–2018 Osseointegration Foundation research grants
Dental professionals pursuing groundbreaking research about dental implants may now be eligible for as much as $30,000 in research grants. The Academy of Osseointegration (AO) announced it is currently accepting applications for the 2017–2018 Osseointegration Foundation Research Grants.
Applications that address areas of research to enhance the public acceptance of implants are encouraged. The submission deadline is December 2, 2016, and applications can be downloaded at the AO web site.

“These grants are a tangible way for the Foundation to support researchers who share the Academy’s commitment to being on the leading edge of evidence-based dentistry and enhancing public awareness,” said Osseointegration Foundation (OF) President Dr. Myron Nevins.
Two research grant awards (one basic science and one applied science) will be awarded. Awards in the amount of $30,000 will be given to the Best Basic Science and Best Applied Science proposals as determined by the AO/OF Research Grant Committee.

This grant is funded by the OF and administered through the AO. To qualify, research grant proposals must be submitted by an AO member, faculty member, or student who conducts research in any academic dental institution; at least one person on the research team must be an AO member.
The first-place awardees will be required to present the results of the investigation at AO’s 2018 Annual Meeting being held March 1-3, 2018, in Los Angeles, as well as submit a manuscript to the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants (JOMI) no later than December 31, 2018.

The Osseointegration Foundation (OF) is the philanthropic arm of the AO and is chartered to develop and provide financial support for the art and science of osseointegration. Grants are awarded annually for research as well as patient treatment. A Board of Directors, which is comprised of AO members, guides its operation. The OF receives its financial support from corporate contributions and gifts from AO members and others.
